Happiness

Happy Friday Friends.
This week, as we celebrated another one of those international thingummyjig days, it was one of the ones I actually like, International Happiness Day, and I found myself thinking about the things that truly bring us joy.
It’s easy to believe happiness is tied to big achievements or future goals, but in reality, it’s often found in the small, everyday moments, the kindness of a stranger, the warmth of the sun on your face, or the satisfaction of making a difference.
Happiness is a powerful force. It’s not just about feeling good, it influences how we interact with the world. Studies show that happier people are more productive, more creative, and even more compassionate.
But one of the most important aspects of happiness is that it’s contagious. A simple smile or a positive word can ripple outward, uplifting those around us. In the same way, our actions toward sustainability, no matter how small, can inspire others to do the same, creating momentum for meaningful change.
Interestingly I reckon, this idea also applies to how we approach sustainability. Many are waiting for a major breakthrough to solve our environmental challenges, but in truth, real progress comes from the small choices we make each day.
Whether it’s choosing cleaner energy, supporting responsible businesses, or reducing waste, every action adds up. Just as one kind gesture can brighten someone’s day, one sustainable choice can contribute to a cleaner, healthier planet.
At Syntech, we see sustainability as an ongoing journey. There’s no single solution to decarbonisation, but by consistently moving in the right direction, we can create a lasting impact. The same way happiness isn’t about one grand moment but a collection of meaningful experiences, a cleaner future depends on our willingness to take steps, big and small, toward a healthier planet.
So, what does happiness have to do with sustainability? Everything. True, lasting happiness comes from knowing we’re making a difference, that our actions have purpose beyond ourselves. When we choose to protect our environment, reduce emissions, or support renewable energy, we’re contributing to something bigger, a world that future generations can enjoy. And that, in itself, is something to be happy about.
Imagine a world where sustainability is as second nature as smiling at a friend. Where businesses put clean energy first, communities embrace responsible living, and individuals make choices that benefit both people and the planet. It may sound like a bit of a fluffy vision, but it starts with small steps, steps everyone take right now.
So, what’s the takeaway? Focus on what you can do today. Be kind, embrace gratitude, and make choices that contribute to a better world.
Happiness grows when we live with purpose, and there’s no greater purpose than leaving behind something better for future generations.
And let’s not forget the power of music to lift our spirits. Here’s a song that always put me in a great mood, I’ve added the lyrics below because they’re just lovely.
Anyone below 40 won’t know who I’m talking about, the writer was a very funny British comedian in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, and wrote the odd song as well, enjoy!

Happiness, happiness, the greatest gift that I possess
I thank the Lord that I’ve been blessed
With more than my share of happiness
To me this old world is a wonderful place
I’m just about the luckiest human in the whole human race
I’ve got no silver and I’ve got no gold
But I’ve got happiness in my soul
Happiness to me is an ocean tide
A sunset fading on a mountain side
A big old heaven full of stars above
When I’m in the arms of the one I love
Oh, happiness, happiness, the greatest gift that I possess
I thank the Lord that I’ve been blessed
With more than my share of happiness
Happiness is a field of grain
Turning its face to the falling rain
I see it in the sunshine, breathe it in the rain
Happiness, happiness everywhere
A wise old man told me one time
Happiness is a frame of mind
When you go to measuring my success
Don’t count my money count my happiness
Oh, happiness, happiness, the greatest gift that I possess
I thank the Lord I’ve been blessed
With more than my share of happiness
Oh, happiness, happiness, the greatest gift that I possess
I thank the Lord I’ve been blessed
With more than my share of happiness
I got more than my share of happiness
