B Lab

B Lab is the non-profit network transforming the global economy to benefit all people, communities and the planet. The B Corporation Movement’s collective vision is of an inclusive, equitable and regenerative economy.

It was created in 2006 with the mission to inspire and enable people to use business as a force for good. There are B Labs across the globe (forming the B Global Network) including Australia, East Africa, mainland Europe and North and South America. Certified B Corporations, or B Corps, are companies verified by B Lab to meet high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability. B Lab UK is a charity that launched in 2015.

British Standards Institution

As the UK’s National Standards Body, the British Standards Institution (BSI) set British Standards, represent the UK globally, and embed best practices to drive trade, innovation, and trust.

BSI is recognised for celebrating excellence – from supporting organisations in achieving the Kitemark and awarding the Mark of Trust to recognising outstanding achievement through its annual Standards Awards for those shaping and applying best practice.

Canterbury Christ Church University

For over 60 years, Canterbury Christ Church University has been providing graduate skills to enhance the region and national workforce; leading pioneering research into significant social issues; and supporting the local economy as a major employer and centre for undergraduate and postgraduate education. CCCU is located in the historic city of Canterbury, Kent.

Established as a teacher training college, the CCCU achieved university status in 2005 and today supports around 15,000 students across its programmes.

Cyber Essentials

Cyber Essentials is a Government supported certification scheme designed to protect an organisation’s data from cyber-attacks, and is recommended by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) as the minimum cyber security standard for all organisations.

The scheme outlines five foundational technical controls – firewalls, secure configuration, user access control, malware protection, and patch management – that, when implemented, can prevent the vast majority of commodity cyber-attacks. It acts as a crucial baseline for cyber security, ensuring that fundamental digital hygiene is in place to safeguard data, systems, and reputation.

Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme

The Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) sets the standard for safer, smarter, and greener fleet management by promoting cleaner vehicles, safety, efficiency, and operational excellence. FORS is a voluntary accreditation scheme dedicated to raising standards across the road transport sector.

By evaluating performance in safety, environmental impact, and operational efficiency. The program provides operators with a clear framework for excellence. Through its tiered structure FORS encourages continuous development, helping fleets achieve long-term sustainability and industry-leading success.

Information Commissioner’s Office

The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) is the UK’s independent authority established to uphold information rights in the public interest, promoting data privacy for individuals and openness by public bodies.

As the regulator for data protection, the ICO oversees legislation such as the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018, and the Freedom of Information Act 2000. It plays a crucial role in safeguarding personal information by guiding organisations on compliance, investigating data breaches, and enforcing laws.

International Organization for Standardization

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is an independent, non-governmental international organisation that serves as the world’s largest developer of voluntary international standards. Founded in 1947 and headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, the ISO functions as a network of 170+ national standards bodies, bringing together industry experts to develop consensus-based, market-relevant standards that support innovation and provide solutions to global challenges.
ISO has published over 25,500 international standards covering nearly all aspects of technology, manufacturing, food safety, agriculture, and healthcare.

International Sustainability & Carbon Certification

The International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC) is a leading, independent, and globally applicable third-party certification system that verifies sustainable, fully traceable, and deforestation-free supply chains for sustainable feedstocks while upholding human, labour, land rights, and good management practices.
ISCC ensures compliance with strict environmental, social, and economic standards covering the entire supply chain from raw material to final product. The system offers key internationally recognised certifications. With over 50,000 certificates issued worldwide, ISCC supports the transition to a sustainable bioeconomy and circular economy by providing transparency and trusted, audited sustainability claims.

Living Wage Foundation

The Living Wage Foundation is a UK-based organisation established in 2011, operating under Citizens UK to campaign for a real living wage based on the actual cost of living, rather than the government minimum. It accredits employers who voluntarily pay this higher rate to all staff, including contractors, aiming to prevent in-work poverty. By setting annually updated, independent rates for the UK and London, the foundation has impacted nearly half a million employees.

Living Wage Foundation unites employers, workers, and communities across the UK to promote fair work by recognising those committed to the Living Wage, Living Hours, and Living Pension.

Made in Britain

Made in Britain unites the British manufacturing community, empowering its members to increase sales through the exclusive use of the Made in Britain and Made in Northern Ireland trademarks, licensed under their strict Terms & Conditions. As a not-for-profit entity, they collaborate with UK trade bodies, government departments, and media outlets to advocate for quality employment, responsible business practices, and sustainable economic development, championing British manufacturing year-round.

Beyond its economic impact, the movement champions environmental sustainability by reducing transport-related carbon emissions and encourages the preservation of traditional craftsmanship alongside modern innovation in fields like aerospace and pharmaceuticals.

Medway Council

Medway Council is a unitary council in Kent responsible for providing services, including education and social services, in Rochester, Strood, Chatham, Gillingham, Rainham, the nearby rural areas and the Hoo Peninsula. Medway is the largest urban area in the south-east outside London.

A key initiative is the Climate Change Action Plan targeting net-zero emissions by 2050, alongside developing a Local Plan to guide sustainable growth through 2041 while preserving the area’s heritage.

National Grid

National Grid is central to transforming the energy system by connecting millions to energy while driving innovation and decarbonisation through its ventures and partners. National Grid is a British multinational energy utility operating electricity transmission and distribution networks in the UK.

In England and Wales, the company manages the high-voltage electricity transmission network with 7,000 km of lines and 22,000 pylons and acts as a Distribution Network Operator for parts of the country, serving nearly 8 million customers. The company is also updating infrastructure to integrate renewable energy and manages interconnectors for sharing electricity with Europe.

Ofgem

Ofgem (Office of Gas and Electricity Markets) is the non-ministerial regulator for Great Britain’s energy market, protects consumers’ interests while working with industry and partners to ensure a clean, fair, and secure energy system. Its core mission is to safeguard the interests of both current and future consumers by ensuring access to reliable and affordable energy and fair treatment, which includes setting the Energy Price Cap.
Under the Energy Act 2023, Ofgem is specifically tasked with supporting the UK’s legally mandated transition to net zero by 2050, requiring the development of regulatory frameworks for emerging low-carbon technologies like heat networks and carbon capture solutions. By monitoring industry compliance and investigating potential market abuse, Ofgem holds the authority to impose significant financial penalties and mandate compensation to maintain a high standard of service across the energy sector.

Route to Zero

Route to Zero is a UK-based, business-led membership organisation with the goal of accelerating the national transition to a low-carbon society by influencing policy, fostering innovation, and empowering communities to adopt sustainable practices.  It operates as a collaborative platform, inviting companies, organisations, and individuals to join a community dedicated to securing long-term sustainability through shared expertise. By focusing on adopting proven low-carbon technologies, the organisation helps members navigate environmental responsibilities and set achievable carbon reduction targets, aligning with the UK’s 2050 net-zero goals.
Route to Zero is led by a steering committee featuring experts in renewable energy, policy, and science. Beyond setting goals, Route to Zero emphasises “oven-ready” solutions and the economic benefits of the transition, fostering financial incentives that make sustainability a strategic advantage.

UK Power Networks

UK Power Networks is the largest electricity distributor in the United Kingdom, serving approximately 19 million people across London and the South East. The company manages over 190,000 kilometres of cables and 130,000 substations, overseeing network reliability, the transition to net-zero, power cut support, new connections, and assistance for vulnerable customers.
The company has committed to achieving net-zero emissions in its own operations and prioritises social responsibility through its Priority Services Register, which supports households with medical dependencies on electricity. Investing in smart grid technologies, such as AI-driven site assessments and low-carbon switchgear, helps ensure network resilience as demand for electric vehicles and heat pumps increases.

University of Greenwich

The University of Greenwich, a public institution established in 1890, serves over 21,000 students across three campuses: Greenwich, Avery Hill, and Medway. The primary Greenwich Campus is on a UNESCO World Heritage Site at the Old Royal Naval College, known for its historic architecture. The university holds a Gold rating in the 2023 Teaching Excellence Framework and a 5-star QS rating for teaching and employability, offering over 200 undergraduate and 150 postgraduate programs across four faculties.
Beyond its historical sites, the university features modern facilities like the Stockwell Street Building with advanced studios and the Dreadnought Building as a central student hub. The university emphasises strong industry links, with approximately 95% of graduates entering employment within months of graduation.

University of Kent

University of Kent is an ambitious educational establishment where a diverse community of staff and students combine desire and determination to make a proud impact locally, nationally, and globally. Established in 1965, the University of Kent is a public research institution with campuses in Canterbury and Medway, known for its international perspective and postgraduate centers in cities like Paris and Brussels. It is frequently ranked among the top 50 UK universities and was recognised in the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2021.

The university is particularly noted for strong programs in History, Law, and Social Policy, with many subjects placing within the global top 100. Students have access to extensive facilities, including the Templeman Library, a European Documentation Centre, and the British Cartoon Archive.

Zemo Partnership

Zemo Partnership is an independent non-profit dedicated to accelerating the transition to a zero-emission road transport future. It currently brings together over 200 stakeholder organisations – including automotive manufacturers, fuel suppliers, transport operators, and academic experts – to build consensus and provide evidence-based guidance on decarbonising various transport sectors.
The partnership plays a critical role in shaping UK policy through initiatives like the Renewable Fuels Assurance Scheme and the development of a comprehensive Delivery Roadmap for Net Zero Transport. By facilitating cross-sector collaboration, Zemo ensures that the shift to electric vehicles and sustainable fuels is backed by robust data and a stable regulatory environment, helping to drive both environmental progress and business opportunities within the UK
